From November 3 to 11, 2023 the English National Opera in London will host the Marina Abramović's Opera Project titled Seven Deaths of Maria Callas. The deaths of ‘the Tigress’, as Callas was called, are recreated featuring some of the arias that were most important to the singer. In the production of Seven Deaths of Maria Callas, Marina Abramović and co-performer Willem Dafoe will die seven times in seven films. Seven singers perform well-known arias by Bellini, Bizet, Donizetti, Puccini and Verdi while Abramović herself appears on stage. Seven Deaths of Maria Callas is also the title of the book (Damiani, 2020) by Marina Abramović that accompany the Opera Project in its worldwide tounée.
